Gift pass for the Paywall

 This is a Great Idea!

Kuddos to the New York Times for doing it, and to Kevin Kelly for bringing it to my attention:

Gifting a paid article
All paying New York Times subscribers can gift an article behind the Times’ paywall to others so they can read it for free. Subscribers can gift up to 10 articles per month. This includes posting gifted articles on Twitter or Facebook, so followers are not blocked when you share a great piece. The gifted article does not count against reader’s free monthly allotment. To gift an article, look for the “wrapped gift package” button in the row of badges at the top and bottom of an article to get the link. I wish all paid publications would do this. — KK

Best Adhesive Remover

We used this to take duct-tape adhesive residue off of a car that had Christmas lights taped to it for a parade:

This stuff works REMARKABLY well.

Much better than Goo-gone, tea tree oil, alcohol and other similar products.

Available from Amazon here.

We need @Apple to add a feature to Apple Watch to ALERT if/when we get out of Bluetooth range of our iPhones, before we get mile(s) away and realize it too late! @AppleWatchGuru

Article: How Email Can Enhance Your Productivity

Here is a great article, that actually promotes the benefits of email; even though it's been popular to demonize it lately. Email is still the top digital productivity tool available today.

The Printer Test Page used to actually have a 4-color Windows logo on it. Now @Microsoft decided to "upgrade" that to black and cyan only. How is this a better "test"??

Will @Apple PLEASE add MOUSE support to iOS? You should be able to plug a mouse into an iPhone or iPad, just like you can on any Android device.

@MyStraightTalk WHY not?? You're getting PAID for the data - and wanting to sell more in 5GB and 10GB packages! MAKE HOT-SPOTTING HAPPEN @MyStraightTalk!!

@torsaaan @howtogeek Great suggestion - thank you @torsaaan! However, there's got to be a FREE alternative for this. The company that does it should be able to [anonymously] leverage some value from this (like what sites are truly most popular) using the data they would aggregate and facilitate, no?

@VimeoStaff That's nice that Speed Control a [remote] possibility, IF a paying-creator remembers to manually enable it. But it OFF by default, and not USER controlled. If @vimeo wants to compete with YT, you need to step it up; and empower the USER's Playback options with Speed Controls.

@littlecaesars Your mobile app NEEDS IMPROVEMENT! [1] It should at least remember my username. [2] And be able to use TouchID for my password. [3] It should remember my local store!!

@Vimeo When are you going to get Speed Up controls on your videos like @YouTube has?!?

Thank you @howtogeek for publishing Shutting Down Doesn’t Fully Shut Down Windows 10 (https://t.co/YKXMA7VfFl), So @Microsoft needs to rename this to Suspend or something other than "Shutdown". It's misleading and wrong.

The guys @howtogeek should to write an article on what to do now that @LastPass has decided to shutdown @xmarks. What should we use for cross-browser bookmark sync'ing?

@WatchVRV You need to make a way to add Captions (hotkey C) and a way to SpeedUp your videos, if you want to compete with YouTube.

Realtime Death Toll

Are "guns" really the biggest threat we face in America today?
Evidence suggest otherwise, contrary to media focus...

Please @Microsoft just STOP IT with the "Consumer Experience" and forcing games and unnecessary apps onto people that PAY for your "Professional" OS! This is ridiculous. https://t.co/OUNxHUeDio

Why didn't @Apple add their calculator as a native iWatch app? Really, a $350 watch that doesn't have a calculator??

@craig_lloyd this would have been a Great article (https://t.co/eawAHKb66z), if only you would've included a link to FIND an AASP.

How To LOCK a PC via Command Line

Sometimes you want a PC to Boot-up, Login, then Lock itself.

It's not obvious how to get it to do that.

Sure you could Log-OUT or Shutdown, but those are helpful options.

You want the PC to Lock local access, but continue on with the tasks you had set it about upon boot-up.

Here's the command you need:

…\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

Thanks to here for this tip!

Hat's off to @Apple for how they are addressing the battery/slow-down problem in 2018 with new Battery Health meter, and -$50 off battery replacements for older phones!
